FOLKREDDING THE WEEKLY LETTER

OUR STORY & PURPOSE

A place worth seeing.
A community
worth knowing.

Folk began with a simple conviction: there is more beauty, creativity, and life here than most people ever get the chance to see.

HOW FOLK BEGAN

"The Redding I was experiencing was not the Redding the rest of the world could see."

When I moved here from Los Angeles, I found thoughtful shops, talented artists, generous neighbors, beautiful landscapes, and gatherings that made this place feel alive.

But much of that life was difficult to discover—and the way Redding was presented online rarely captured how it actually felt to be here.

A CLOSER LOOK

I didn’t want to reinvent Redding—or make it look like somewhere else.

I wanted to reveal what was already here, with the kind of care, photography, and storytelling usually reserved for places people already believe are worth visiting.

That became Folk.

WHY WE EXIST

To help people know this place more deeply—and love it a little more.

03

For those curious enough to come.

An invitation to experience Redding as a local might: slowly, thoughtfully, and beyond the usual list of attractions.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Attention is a form of care.

01 Community over clicks.

02 Relationships before revenue.

04 Local stories deserve extraordinary care.

“Leave every place more loved than we found it.”

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

This is an invitation to look closer.

Folk isn’t about pretending Redding is perfect. It’s about paying attention—to the people doing meaningful work, the places that invite us to stay awhile, and the small choices that make a community feel like home.

It’s choosing local. Introducing ourselves. Staying longer. Participating instead of simply passing through.
